Sigma Project and Inés R. ArtolaWednesday, 7 August 2019
Chillida LekuSigma Project is a quartet of saxophonists made up of Alberto Chaves, Andrés Gomis, Ángel Soria and Josetxo Silguero. In 2016, the group brought the exhibition “Eduardo Chillida, Sonoridades (Sounds)” in Wroclaw (Poland) to a close, performing a concert marked by an intimate dialogue with the work of the sculptor. In Chillida Leku, the quartet will offer a musical promenade in the exterior part of the museum. This promenade will consist of a repertoire of contemporary music with compositions by Sánchez-Verdú and Jesús Torres, among others. The musicians will be accompanied by Inés R. Artola, curator of exhibitions and musicologist, who will read texts by Eduardo Chillida and other authors, interspersed between the different musical pieces.
Sing the space Beñat Achiary and HaratagoWednesday, 4 September 2019
Chillida LekuBeñat Achiary (1947, Saint Palais, Lower Navarre), singer, musician and improviser, is the guest who will bring the Chillida Leku summer programme to a close. His expressive, vital and moving voice will dialogue with the museum’s sculptures to offer a unique sound and sensory experience. The work of this musician, as well as his vision of the world and art, find parallels in the work of the sculptor, since Achiary considers himself Basque du Tout-monde (a “whole-world” Basque). His work, like that of Eduardo Chillida, can be compared to a tree that has its roots planted in the earth and its branches open to the world. Beñat Achiary will be accompanied on this occasion by the singer Mathieu Mendizabal and the musicians of Haratago, a group formed by his son Julen Achiary to introduce the public to Basa Ahaide de Xiberoa, songs based on nature.
